gistyo is a private, account-backed service for turning submitted text into short summaries and optional audio narration. This Privacy Policy applies when you access gistyo through gistyo.com, create an account, submit content, or use share links.

By using the service, you acknowledge that your information may be processed as described in this policy.

We collect the information needed to run the service and secure accounts.

• Account information such as your email address, display name if you provide one, and authentication session data.
• Content you submit, including pasted text, gist titles and summaries, narration requests, and related gist history.
• Sharing data, including share-link settings, invited email addresses, expiration choices, and basic share view activity.
• Technical and usage data such as IP address, browser type, device metadata, timestamps, referrers, errors, and security logs.
• Cookie and local session data used to keep you signed in and protect the service from abuse.

• Provide the core product experience, including saving private gists, generating summaries, and delivering audio narration.
• Authenticate users, maintain sessions, and protect accounts and shared content.
• Create, enforce, and audit sharing rules such as private access, invited viewers, or anyone-with-link access.
• Detect fraud, abuse, policy violations, and service misuse.
• Operate, troubleshoot, improve, and monitor the reliability and performance of the service.
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

When you ask gistyo to summarize text or generate narration, the submitted content may be processed by our infrastructure and approved third-party service providers that help us produce the requested output. That can include storage, security review, summary creation, audio synthesis, and playback delivery.

We limit that processing to what is reasonably necessary to operate the feature you request, improve reliability, and enforce the security of the service.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in limited cases:

• With infrastructure, hosting, analytics, authentication, and model or audio providers that help us run gistyo.
• With people you choose to share with through a gistyo share link or invited-access workflow.
• When disclosure is required to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect rights, or respond to security incidents.
• As part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or similar business transaction involving the service.

gistyo uses essential cookies and similar session technologies to keep you signed in, maintain CSRF protections, remember security preferences, and support core product functionality. We may also use limited diagnostics data to measure reliability and detect abuse.

• Account records and saved gists are generally retained until you delete them, close your account, or we no longer need them to operate the service.
• Share view records may be retained for a limited period to support audit trails, abuse prevention, and product functionality.
• Backups and cached copies may persist for a reasonable period after deletion.
• We may retain information longer if required for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or security investigations.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including transport security, access controls, and authenticated account boundaries. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• You can update basic account details through the service when those controls are available.
• You can delete or stop sharing content by removing it or revoking the corresponding share link.
• You can ask for access to or deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and operational limits.
• You can control cookies through your browser, although disabling essential cookies may break the service.

gistyo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to gistyo, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. By using gistyo, you understand that data may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different privacy laws than those in your home country.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date on this page and may provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of gistyo after an update means the revised policy applies going forward.
